It really is now or never for Pound Ridge and it really does begin locally

I hadn’t personally subscribed to the philosophy that all politics begins locally until this last year. Here’s why my view has changed.

While many of us were mourning on the day after the Presidential election (Pound Ridge voted against Trump 2 to 1), the leadership of the Pound Ridge Republican Committee wanted help in requesting Inauguration tickets from our Dem congressman.

We are the only town that didn’t respectfully discuss the need for or simply the symbolism represented by passing an Immigrant Protection regulation.

And the local Republican Committee today is campaigning actively for Rob Astorino and Francis Corcoran. Astorino is vocally anti-choice and cost the county millions in his handling of the housing suit. Francis Corocoran cast the deciding vote against an over-ride of Astorino’s veto of the county-wide Immigrant Protection law.

We have 272 more registered Democrats than Republicans in Pound Ridge. We have thousands of Independent and non-aligned voters. We have hundreds of moderate Republicans here in town. We sent two full buses of Pound Ridge women to the Women’s March in DC and many more to the NYC March. And we have a terrific town that is already charming but can be so much more. We could have cell service, a marketing plan to attract young families, help residents improve their properties instead of making it difficult and we could welcome and mentor businesses who want to open here.

It really is now or never to send the message that Pound Ridge is a moderate, welcoming and progressive community. Please vote on November 7th and vote for Kevin Hansan for Supervisor, Diane Briggs and Dan Paschkes for Town Board and ira Clair for Town Justice. We lost the last election by 6 votes. It’s in your hands now.
