House Fire Breaks Out At Building In Northern Westchester

Volunteers with the Peekskill Ambulance Corps helped with two Westchester County fires over the past week, including one at an abandoned house.

The fire, at 928 Second St., in Peekskill, broke out about 5 a.m. Thursday, officials said.

About 40 firefighters responded to the scene, which kept the ambulance corps busy provided cold water to keep them hydrated, said the ambulance corps on Facebook.

They also provided coverage in case of any injuries as the first moved from the first floor and moved to the third.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but it does not appear to be suspicious, officials said. 

 This is the second fire Peekskill VAC has responded to in five days. The other fire was located in Verplanck.

Other agencies on scene included City of Peekskill Police Department, Peekskill Fire Department, Buchanan Eng Co., Verplanck Fire Department, Continental Village Volunteer Fire Department, Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association, Montrose VA Fire Department, Cortlandt Peekskill Regional Paramedics, and Battalion 10.
