A former assistant varsity coach in Westchester has been sentenced for having sexual contact with a minor.

Tyler Sick, the 30-year-old from Tarrytown who taught in New York City and acted as a wrestling coach at Edgemont High School, pleaded guilty in court on over the summer to two counts of rape after being accused of having sex with a teenage girl in Greenburgh in 2016.

On Tuesday, Westchester District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr., announced that Sick has been sentenced to 10 years probation. He also was ordered to surrender his teaching license and he will register as a sexual offender. He was a teacher in the Bronx.

Sick petitioned the court to allow him to move permanently to North Carolina where he has family," Scarpino noted. It is now up to the North Carolina state probation authorities as to whether they will accept the transfer of his probation. In the interim, Sick will remain in Westchester. A Sex Offender Registry Act hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 27.

According to the complaint filed in Greenburgh Town Court, Sick had been involved with illegal sexual contact with a minor, which led to a joint police investigation. Detectives from the Special Victims Units in Greenburgh and Tarrytown were assisted by the Special Prosecutions Division of the Office of the Westchester County District Attorney's Office and the Westchester County Children's Advocacy Center.

Sick pleaded guilty to having sexual contact with the minor for more than a year, beginning in December 2016. The nature of the sexual contact has not been disclosed by officials. Following his arrest, Sick was dismissed from his position as the assistant varsity wrestling coach. He was also reassigned from his teaching position in the Bronx without pay.

Sick lived in Tarrytown at the time of the offenses he pleaded guilty to. He currently resides in North Carolina.
