Updated unofficial results from the Westchester County Board of Elections, which include absentee ballots, show that Republican challengers David Dow and Jody Sullivan have defeated Democratic incumbent Councilwomen Ali Boak and Sherene De Palma.
The newer results show that Dow and Sullivan received 792 and 788 votes, respectively.
Boak came in third with 779 votes, losing her re-election bid by a margin of just nine, as the top-two vote recipients are the winners of the council seats. De Palma, meanwhile, finished fourth with 722 votes.
The absentee ballots changed the outcome of the council races. The initial unofficial results, which were just based on voting-machine returns, showed Dow and Boak leading for the seats, with Sullivan and De Palma trailing.
Meanwhile, the updated results show that incumbent Republican Supervisor Dick Lyman prevailed over Democratic challenger (and current Councilman) Dan Paschkes by 861 votes to 704.
Democrats captured a 3-2 majority on the board last year after De Palma defeated Dow in a special election for a council seat by a margin of just 11 votes. Going forward, Dow and Sullivan will join Lyman and fellow Republican Bonnie Schwartz. Paschkes will be the board's only Democrat.
Council seats come with 4-year terms that are staggered. The seats currently held by Paschkes and Schwartz are not up for elections until 2017, while the seats won by Dow and Sullivan will be up for votes again in 2019. In contrast, the supervisor's office only carries a 2-year term, and thus is up for a vote during every municipal-level election year.
Meanwhile, incumbent Republican Town Clerk Joanne Pace, who ran unopposed, received 1,094 votes.
Pound Ridge Republicans came close to a total sweep but came up short by just three votes in the Town Justice race. Democratic incumbent Regina Kelly received 777 votes while Republican challenger Hilary Kao earned 774.
The total tallies also include minor-party lines. The Republican slate also ran on the Conservative and Reform Party ballot lines, while the Democrats had the Independence Party line and (except for Kelly) the Women's Equality Party line.
The board of elections has not posted the updated results for any of the local races to its website.
