Returning To Writing After A Several Month Hiatus In Pound Ridge

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- As many of you know, I've been on hiatus for several months. That slip and fall over the winter put a damper on a few things I was doing and my writing was affected the most.

Thanks to the wonderful world of Nobamacare, I'm still waiting for the green light to have spinal fusion surgery to fix a couple of cracks in my neck. But rather than watch the grass grow, I decided to push myself at contributing something worthy here.

So, let's see if I can can provide a short version of what I missed in the past six months. First, The Inn by Jean-George finally opened its doors. Trust me when I tell you the chocolate cake with toasted marshmallow frosting alone is worth the visit. More to follow about the Inn.

There were the springtime events that make Pound Ridge the community it is. There was my favorite event, the Taste of Pound Ridge, followed by the Lobster Festival, hosted by the Community Church. This past weekend saw the 5K Road Race and this coming weekend is the annual town tag sale, arranged by Joan Silbersher. If I missed anyone, my apologies but the benefit of two aneurysms is a short memory span.

Which brings me to my late start for 2014. Several businesses in town have been patient in waiting for me to visit and I hope to make up for that lost time fairly soon. For those of you asking if I plan to write any political pieces or interviews, I assure you that I will. In fact, I plan on bringing things up a notch or two.

Being it was a year ago when I accepted the invitation to write for Daily Voice, you may recall my first article on the resurfacing on Westchester Avenue. What better way to celebrate my anniversary than by bringing up the recent partial repaving of High Ridge Road by the State DOT. If someone can explain why mostly the outer parts of High Ridge Road were repaved, I'll appreciate the feedback.

In closing, I want to thank those of you who over the past few months have been asking how I'm doing. It shows me that our small town is still a wonderful place where everyone knows everyone else.

Have a good week, and be well, my friends.
