The two women are co-authors of an “Images of America” book on the subject, due to be published in May to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the reservation in 2014.
The 4,315-acre expanse is Westchester County’s largest park. Originally part of Cortlandt Manor, the site's natural beauty is dotted with a collection of buildings, some dating 250 years.
In addition to the presentation, a new exhibit, Archival Treasures, will be open at the Pound Ridge Museum. It includes a selection of historical items from the society’s archives that have either never been seen before or have not been displayed in many years. The society is still collecting donations, so if you have anything that might be appropriate, call 914-764-4333.
The Archival Treasures exhibit will be open to the public Saturdays and Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m. until Dec. 1.
The Pound Ridge Historical Society, founded in 1971, offers activities and programs related to Pound Ridge and its roots. The society’s mission is “to discover, collect, preserve and transcribe material about Pound Ridge and its environs; to make such information available to the public; to bring together people of similar interests; to promote and share the accumulated knowledge through publications, programs, exhibits and the operation of the Pound Ridge Museum.”
The Pound Ridge Museum is located at 255 Westchester Ave., Pound Ridge, in the historic hamlet district. It is listed on the National Historic Register and landmarked by the town’s Historic District Commission.
