Kenneth Horn, an owner of Alchemy Bedford LLC, which is the corporate entity that owns the site, told Daily Voice on Tuesday that Bow Tie requested the extension. The request for more time was agreed to by Alchemy Bedford, he explained.

Bow Tie's lease, which it chose not to renew, allowed for it to occupy the Bedford Playhouse through the end of 2014.

The theater company's website lists show times at the Bedford Playhouse through Sunday, Jan. 4. Other Bow Tie-owed theaters, such as those nearby in Mount Kisco and New Canaan, have show times available through Jan. 8.

The extension comes as an effort is underway by John Farr to raise money for his concept of "a not-for-profit arts cinema."

Farr's group, called Friends of Bedford Playhouse, is seeking pledges totaling $2.5 million by March 1 in order to finance work for the proposal. The group's website lists a 16-member steering committee and an Advisory Board that includes members such as Chevy and Jayni Chase, Paul and Cathy Shaffer, and J.C. Chandor.

Also mentioned on the group's website is Executive Diretor Wendy Ross, who was previously executive director of Friends of the John Jay Homestead.

Horn, speaking with Daily Voice, expressed support for Farr's concept. He added that Alchemy Bedford donated to Farr's fundraiser.

Horn is also founder of Alchemy Properties, which is the corporate-entity owner's affiliate and has a track record of working on historic buildings in New York City, including the Woolworth Building.

Meanwhile, the search for a new tenant space continues, according to Horn. He has kept open the option of filling it with retail if a willing theater tenant cannot be found.
