Pound Ridge Rowers Power To First Place At Head Of The Schuylkill

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- Pound Ridge residents Liam McDonough, Kris Petreski and Kaare Andersen helped Norwalk River Rowing capture the first place point total for boys high school teams at the Head of Schuylkill on Oct. 27.

The Head of the Schuylkill was a two-day regatta in Philadelphia with 1,543 boats entered from 230 clubs and schools from 24 states and 6 countries, and was Norwalk River’s last regatta of the fall season.

Pound Ridge rowers powered boats responsible for four of Norwalk River’s seven medals and 10 of the Norwalk River Rowing boys’ 12 point total.

Petreski won gold in the single (under 17) against 21 other boats and in a boys quad (under 17) against 19 other boats, while McDonough won gold in the same quad as well as a boys double (under 17) in a race of 25 boats.

Norwalk River also captured bronze in the boys four plus coxswain (under 19), boys four plus coxswain (under 17) and a silver in the girls double (under 17).
