Pound Ridge Rowers Help Norwalk Team Win Medals At N.Y. Regatta

POUND RIDGE/BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Four local rowers propelled four Norwalk River Rowing boats to medals in its opening regatta, with two boats placing first, one second and one third.

In all, 12 of the 27 boats Norwalk River Rowing brought to the “Tail of the Fish” returned with medals: three golds, three silvers and six bronzes.  Twenty-six clubs entered 310 boats in the regatta, which was held on a warm, sunny day, Saturday, Oct. 4, in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Pound Ridge residents Kris Petreski and Liam McDonough won gold in the varsity four plus coxswain and silver in the varsity eight.  Fellow Pound Ridge resident Kaare Anderson was half of the varsity pair that won gold, and Bedford resident Liz Sadrakula helped propel the girls novice eight that won bronze.

Norwalk River Rowing also won a gold in the girls varsity B double and silver medals in the boys JV eight and girls varsity four plus coxswain.  Finally, Norwalk River took third place in the boys varsity single, boys varsity B double, boys varsity B single, boys novice four plus coxswain, and girls varsity double.
