On an afternoon that saw a light, but steady, snowfall mixed with almost clear skies at times, fans in the stands may have had trouble staying warm, but the action on the field was hot -- at least for a half.

John Jay led 4-2 at halftime and the game was tied at 4-4 early in the third, before Yorktown slipped into another gear.

Logan Peters led the 37-time Section 1 champions with a hat trick and one assist as Yorktown improved to 2-0. The team beat Brewster, 18-6, in its season opener on March 26.

John Jay (0-2) was led by Matt Lupinacci's three goals and one assist.

John Jay dropped its opener at Lakeland/Panas 12-11 on Thursday.
