The school's third annual Pink the Rink hockey game against Bedford's Fox Lane takes place at 7 p.m. with players wearing pink jerseys and socks to honor those affected by breast cancer.

A bake sale is taking place this week and other fundraising events will be occurring at the game.

One of the fundraising opportunities is to have the team skate in memory of someone affected by the disease. Names will be announced prior to the start of the game and will be put on an honorees banner.

Anyone who would like to sponsor a banner should send a $50 check, made out to the "American Cancer Society" to Melissa Mykytiuk, 21 Blair Road, Armonk, N.Y. 10504. Make sure the name of the honoree is on the check.

"This is a great event," said Liane Rigano, whose son, Zach, plays defense for Byram Hills and is a team captain. "It's a fun night."

Rigano said as a parent, it's great seeing the hockey players get involved and be so willing to do something in support of the cause. "Everyone is affected by cancer somehow."

"It gives you a really warm feeling," Rigano added. "We're trying to get the crowd out there to support the kids and support the cause."
