The school had to turn off the taps while it made repairs to its water filtration system recently.

That meant that students and staff had to use coolers for drinking water and food preparation, the Katonah-Lewisboro school district said.

The school, which is in Cross River, gets its water from wells, the district said.

The worn-out part was discovered during routine maintenance, the district said.

After the repairs were made, the district sent water samples to the Westchester Department of Health for testing.

It just got the go-ahead to turn the taps on again, according to the school’s principal, Richard LaPrine.

It took several weeks to complete the repairs because the part had to be custom made, the district said.
