Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES recently held its annual Culinary Senior Luncheon where seniors are served a meal by the juniors in the culinary program.

Vanessa Bueti, a senior at Walter Panas, spoke at the luncheon and said BOCES reaffirmed her decision to go into the culinary field. Bueti is heading to Johnson and Wales to study Pastry, Baking and Food Management.

“BOCES not only helped me to become a better chef,” Bueti said. “It helped me to become a better person. It helped me to come out of my shell and meet new people.”

Ashley Sherman, a senior at Mahopac High School who is attending the Culinary Institute of America, said at the luncheon that the BOCES program enabled her to make new friends, gain assertiveness and help her discover her career path.

“BOCES will always have a very special place in my heart and I am grateful for this amazing opportunity,” Sherman said.
