POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Danielle Asaro of Pound Ridge has enrolled as a first-year member of the Class of 2015 at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

More than 11,400 high school seniors applied for admission this fall, the largest applicant pool in the college's history. Marist accepted 34 percent, making Asaro part of the college's most selective and diverse class ever, with students from 37 states and 17 countries.

Marist is an independent comprehensive liberal arts college with an enrollment of 4,400 full-time undergraduate and 1,000 graduate students, located along the eastern shore of the Hudson River halfway between New York City and the state capital at Albany. Marist operates a branch campus in Florence, Italy and a center in Fishkill, NY. Founded in 1929, Marist offers 34 major fields of undergraduate study and 12 graduate degree programs.

Marist is included in The Princeton Review's guide to the top colleges and universities in the U.S., The Best 376 Colleges, placing Marist in the top 15 percent of all institutions of higher education in the United States.
