District Clerk Kimberly Monzon administered oaths at the meeting, which was held at John Jay High School and was the first for the 2014-15 school year.
The reorganizational meeting was also the first for a reshuffled group of top officials. The school board unanimously elected Marjorie Schiff, who was previously its vice president, to serve as president for 2014-15. She replaces Charles Day, who chose not to run again this year for another board term. The board also backed Jeff Holbrook to serve as vice president. The two took their oaths of office following votes from their colleagues.
Oaths were also administered to John Goetz as interim school superintendent – he previously served as interim principal at John Jay High School – and for assistant superintendents Michael Jumper and Alice Cronin. Jumper previously served as interim superintendent.
The new school year will include two major items. One is the continuing transition for the closure of Lewisboro Elementary School; a committee tasked with deciding what to do with the building is also slated to convene. There will also be a search for a new superintendent, which was mentioned during Tuesday’s meeting.
