The trip was part of a Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES program called Arts in Education, which the organization announced.

In a press release recalling the trip, BOCES recalled how Sprout combined a guessing game of historical figures, such as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, with a song for each. Genres ranged from ballads to pop rock, BOCES' announcement noted.

In the case of Washington, BOCES notes that Sprout held a guessing game by recalling a series of biographical facts about the founding father and first president.

“He was considered the best dancer in the colony of Virginia," Sprout was quoted as telling the second graders. "He was a man of many firsts—he was our first master spy, the first person to raise mules in the US, our first millionaire, and our first coins were made from his silverware. He’s even on our one-dollar bill.”
