The renditions are scheduled for March 16 at 7 p.m., March 17 at 7 p.m., and on March 18 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The play is based on Disney movie franchise of the same name, which premiered in 2006.

"It opens on the first day after winter break at East High," the district's preview notes. "The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain Troy discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. When they audition for the school’s winter musical, many students resent the threat posed to the status quo. But Troy and Gabriella's alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well."

Tickets, which are $10, will be available at JJMS during lunch shifts and again at the door, according to the district.

“Disney’s High School Musical was huge when it came out in 2006, then it was nerdy, now it’s cool to like it again,” JJMS Director David Fritsch said in a provided statement. “It’s catchy. Students love it—the characters are about their age. It’s fun.”
