Bedford Central Budget Re-Vote Embraced Across Elementary Zones

BEDFORD, N.Y. -- The Bedford Central School District's revised 2016-17 budget, which passed on Tuesday by a widen margin, was also embraced by sizable amounts by voters in all five elementary school attendance zones. However, the largest margins came in the three zones that cover the western side of the district, which is in keeping with previous trends.

Bedford Central uses elementary schools as polling places and election districts, which allows for a glimpse into how residents in its different communities vote.

Residents in the Mount Kisco Elementary School (MKES) zone, which encompasses parts of Mount Kisco and Bedford Corners, delivered the largest passage margin, with 611 votes in favor to just 134 votes against.

Residents in the West Patent Elementary School (WPES) zone, which includes parts of Mount Kisco, New Castle, Bedford Hills and Bedford Corners, gave 452 votes in favor to 105 against.

Meanwhile, residents in the Bedford Hills Elementary School (BHES) zone, which includes Bedford Hills and part of Bedford Corners, gave 374 votes in favor to 127 against.

The margins of approval in the districts two eastern elementary zones were wide by still narrower in comparison to the western zones.

Residents in the Bedford Village Elementary School (BVES) zone, which includes Bedford Village and part of North Castle, gave 540 votes in favor to 301 votes against.

Residents in the Pound Ridge Elementary School (PRES) zone, which includes Pound Ridge, gave 514 votes in favor to 283 votes against.

Overall, the revised budget passed by 2,491 to just 950 votes against.
