Couple Raped, Sexually Abused Minor In Leonardtown: Sheriff

A 45-year-old man and his girlfriend are being bars for their roles in the alleged abuse of a minor in Maryland, according to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.

Brian Joseph Wiegman, and Stormy Shiree Bates, 39, both of Leonardtown, were taken into custody and are facing multiple charges following an investigation into the abuse of a minor, authorities announced on Friday, April 28.

The nature of the abuse has not been disclosed by investigators from the sheriff’s office.

No other details were released by investigators.

Bates was arrested and charged with:

  • Three counts of second-degree rape;
  • Three counts of sex abuse of a minor;
  • Neglect of a minor.

Wiegman was charged with two counts of sex abuse of a minor and neglect of a minor. He previously was arrested for driving with a suspended license.  

Both are being held without bond at the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown.
