Police Pursue Suspect In Attempted Rape Near Purdys Metro-North Station

PURDYS, N.Y. -- An attempted rape was reported in the hamlet of Purdys near the Metro-North train station at approximately 8 a.m. on Sunday, according to Somers Town Supervisor Rick Morrissey.

The suspect has not yet been located and is believed to have left the area, Morrissey said, adding the Somers Police and state police are on high alert and looking to apprehend the suspect.

State police dogs were enlisted to assist in the search for a man who accosted a woman, Morrissey said.

The MTA Police is now the lead agency for the investigation.
