In a recent interview with Daily Voice, Wagner (D-Croton-on-Hudson), said: “if Albany has a good idea, Albany should pay for it.”
“They shouldn’t be kicking those costs down to local governments.”
Wagner's response came to an interview question about how he would keep taxes low.
Wagner also cited helping with pension costs, which he attributed to local layoffs.
“We want to help municipalities.”
The candidate also said he supports streamlining Medicaid's bureaucracy.

Wagner is running in the 40th State Senate District against Republican candidate and Yorktown Councilman Terrence Murphy.
The 40th district covers Pleasantville, Armonk, Bedford, Yorktown, Briarcliff, Chappaqua, Cortlandt, Lewisboro, Mount Pleasant, Mount Kisco, North Salem, Peekskill, Pound Ridge, Somers and parts of Putnam and Dutchess counties.
