POUND RIDGE, N.Y. Pound Ridge residents go to polls Thursday, Sept. 27, to choose four members of the Library Districts Board of Trustees. Here are brief biographies of the seven candidates:
JENNIFER COULTER
Coulter has lived in Pound Ridge for 10 years. She grew up in nearby Darien, Conn., attended The King Low Heywood Thomas School in Stamford, Conn., and graduated from The College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, N.Y., with a degree in philosophy. She started her career at The Bank of Darien, later joining United Systems Integrators Corporation, a commercial real estate services firm in Stamford, as controller. Since the birth of her first son, Elliott, she has been a stay-at-home mom. She has another son, Owen, and a husband, Matthew.
She has served on the Board of Trustees for four years and as secretary for two years. She has been a member of several sub-committees and serves as board liaison to the Pound Ridge Library Foundation.
DAVID DOW
I want a library that is a destination with the best books, electronic media, exciting programming events, exhibits and lively concerts, Dow says. I want a library that is a clean, attractive and pleasant place to visit along with my neighbors, young patrons, teens, weekenders, commuters and retirees. Dow is currently a board member and has served as board president for the last year. Hes been a resident of Pound Ridge for over 14 years and is a patent attorney for a large pharmaceutical company.
His wife, Colette, is also active in the community. They have two young children.
DAVID GOGGIN
Goggin lives in Pound Ridge with his wife, Julie, and sons Evan and Charlie. He is chief operating officer of ImmunoProp Pharma, a marketing company for over-the-counter drugs. His background includes nine years in investment banking with Deutsche Bank and CIBC World Markets, where he advised health care companies on mergers and financing.
Groggin is a CPA and holds an MBA from Columbia University.
SANDRA MAGILEN
Magilen and her husband have lived in Pound Ridge for more than 34 years. She has a BS in health education and an MS in counseling.
I have had several careers in the past 30 years in counseling, as a self-employed sales representative and real estate sales, she said. Being an active user of our library, I am interested in participating in its growth and [in] quality service to the families of Pound Ridge and surrounding communities. Magilen describes herself as an avid reader who participates in the Librarys Book Club. She is also a docent at the Katonah Museum of Art.
VINCE MANNA
Manna is a 14-year resident of Pound Ridge and lives in town with his wife and son. He has served as the Town Historian and board member of The Pound Ridge Historical Society, The Pound Ridge Land Conservancy and The Morgenthau Preserve. He is also co-author of the Land Use section of the Pound Ridge Master Plan.
Recently, Manna co-authored Images of Pound Ridge, published by Arcadia Press. Currently he is vice president of systems development for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He has a BBA from Pace University and an MBA from NY Institute of Technology.
DIANE MAZZANTI
Mazzanti has been a library member for over 17 years. She lives in Pound Ridge with her husband, Les Maron, and her mother, Louise. Their children Liz and David grew up in Pound Ridge and enjoyed their experiences at the library, where Liz also served as a volunteer.
Mazzanti is a practicing business and real estate attorney and serves on the boards of the Pound Ridge Library Foundation and the Pound Ridge Community Church Pre-School. She has served on the local Morgenthau Preserve Board as well as after-school care, zoning and environmental boards and committees.
ELISABETH POST-MARNER
Post-Marner has lived in Pound Ridge for 13 years. A registered architect with a master's degree in architecture from Harvard University, 1979, and a bachelor's from Barnard College, 1974, she is a principal and director of design at EDA Design Associates in Stamford, Conn.
She is a member of the Pound Ridge Community Church and helped spearhead the design and building of the addition to the 1800 vintage structure. She served as a trustee at the church between 2005 and 2009. She received the Bravo Award in Greenwich, Conn., for outstanding achievement as a professional woman.
She and her husband, Laurence Marner, who serves on the board of the Pound Ridge Landmarks & Historic District Commission, are supporters of preserving landmarked structures throughout the town.
