Stop Comparing Pound Ridge Town Board Members to National Politicians

Upon returning to Pound Ridge, after graduating college and working the 2014 and 2016 election cycles in DC, I began paying attention to the upcoming Town Board election and was disappointed by the current political climate in town. In particular, Democratic candidates have decided that it’s in their best interest to bring the hyper-partisanship that stains national politics, right into town discourse. Specifically, I find the attempt to compare Dick Lyman to Donald Trump over a variety of issues, such as sanctuary-cities, both silly and embarrassing. It actually fascinates me how one can compare the President of the United States to a Pound Ridge Town Board member - seriously?

I’ve always taken pride in Pound Ridge’s moderate politics, making decisions purely for the sake of improving this town and the lives of our residents who call it home. Supervisor Dick Lyman, a Republican, was endorsed by the NYS League of Conservation Voters, one of the most liberal environmental groups in the nation. He also recently brought 5 towns together to create a place in Northern Westchester where victims of domestic violence can seek help. The health and safety of Pound Ridgers as well as our precious environment are his top priorities, and he attacks the tough issues that tangibly improve the lives of our residents every day. This, in my opinion, is what Pound Ridge is all about.

There’s a new generation of enthusiastic families in town, new businesses, more volunteers than ever and even rundown Trinity Corners is finally getting renovated. Pound Ridge is bustling and I look forward to seeing Dick Lyman, Bonnie Schwartz, Debbie Damascus and Pete Marchetti continue to improve our town for the sake of better, not blue or red.

Please join me in voting for them on November 7.
