The results, which are from the Westchester County Board of Elections, show that De Palma defeated Republican David Dow by just 11 votes. De Palma garnered 954 votes, while Dow got 943.

The results were updated following the counting of absentee and affidavit ballots. The counting for the additional ballots was done on Friday, Nov. 14, according to the Board of Elections. De Palama previously held a narrow lead that was smaller than the Board of Elections' uncounted absentee-ballot total.

De Palma also ran on the Independence Party line while Dow also ran on the Conservative Party line. The two vied for a council seat that was vacated by Dick Lyman when he became supervisor. Since then it has been filled by Deputy Supervisor Jon Powers. The seat is scheduled to be up for a regular election next November.

Results will be certified and made official later this month, according to the Board of Elections.

Reached for comment, De Palma said she was honored to have the opportunity to work on behalf of the residents. She also said that she looks forward to working with the rest of the board for the common good of the town.

De Palma also recalled that she and Dow agreed to a "clean campaign" and to focus on the issues. While De Palma acknowledged there was negative commentary from elsewhere, she contended that the candidates kept to their objective.

Dow could not be reached for comment.
