Based on exit polls that were conducted throughout the day, the Associated Press, ABC News, WNBC and CNN have reported that Cuomo will be re-elected for his second four-year term, less than 15 minutes after polls closed throughout the state.
It has long been anticipated that Cuomo would cruise to victory over his Republican opponent. Unofficial numbers have not yet been released by the Board of Elections.
This will be Cuomo's second four-year term in the Governor's office after being elected in 2010 over Republican Carl Paladino.
Update, 10:30 p.m.: In his victory speech, Cuomo reported that Astorino had called him from the Crown Plaza in White Plains to concede. Astorino was set to deliver his concession speech shortly thereafter.
