Cuomo Considers Change As Common Core Supporters Meet

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- A group in favor of the state's Common Core educational standards is to host two upstate events this week to discuss the experiences of those affected by their implementation, according to nystateofpolitics.com. Future events are scheduled for Westchester County and elsewhere.

The meetings come as Gov. Andrew Cuomo, reacting to state Department of Education figures that tallied the number of students opting out of last April's testing on the standards at roughly 20 percent, convenes a panel to discuss the possibility of altering Common Core, according to the report.

This week's events are to be held in Rochester and Cortland, the report says.
