POUND RIDGE, N.Y. Pound Ridge police arrested a Stamford, Conn. man Friday night and charged him with misdemeanor DWI.
At around 10:45 p.m., during a routine traffic stop on High Ridge Road, police said they detected the odor of alcohol while interviewing the driver, George J. Klitsch, 62. Klitsch was then given a field sobriety test, which police say he failed.
Klitsch was then arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing where he was charged with DWI - first offense and also issued a summons for going 55 mph in a 30 mph zone and for drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on the highway.
He was released on $200 bond and is due back in Pound Ridge Town Court on Oct. 15.
The following items were also reported by the Pound Ridge police:
- On Sept. 27, police were called to Upper Shad Road for a one-car accident. Two people were transported to Stamford Hospital with undisclosed injuries and the car was towed.
- On Sept. 29, police received two reports of a rabid raccoon on Trinity Pass Road. Police searched the area but the animal was not found.
- Police responded to a two-car accident on Pound Ridge Road on Sept. 29. No injuries were reported and no tow was necessary.
- Police pulled over a car on Westchester Avenue on Sept. 29 for speeding and say a DMV check revealed that the drivers New York State driving privileges had been suspended. Police then arrested Augustine R. Chan, 39, of Morris Plains, N.J. and charged him with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. He was also issued a summons for traveling 52 mph in a 30 mph zone. He was released on $500 bail and is due back in court on Oct. 15.
- During a route traffic stop on Stone Hill Road on Sept. 29, police say that a DMV check revealed that the driver, Kirk O. Kinsman, 39, of Stamford, Conn., had his New York driving privileges suspended. Kinsman was arrested and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. He was also issued a summons for driving left of the pavement markings. He was released on $200 bail and is due back in court Oct. 15.
