Pound Ridge Police Charge Ridgefield Man With DWI

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Pound Ridge police arrested a Ridgefield, Conn. man Aug. 31, and charged him with driving while intoxicated.

Police said that around 11:30 p.m., they stopped a vehicle on Salem Road after it swayed over the road markings. Officers said they detected the odor of alcohol during the interview with the driver.

After he failed a field sobriety test, they arrested Jerry T. Johnson, 56, and charged him with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. He was transported back to police headquarters for processing where he was also issued a summons for driving left of the pavement.

Johnson was released on $250 bail and is due back in court on Oct. 1.

The following items were also reported by the Pound Ridge police:

On Aug. 29, police were called to a car/deer accident on Pound Ridge Road. No injuries were reported but the deer was killed. The carcass was handed over to the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem.

On Saturday, police responded to a one-car accident on High Ridge Road. The driver was transported to the hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the car was towed.

On Monday, police received a report of a missing stop sign on Old Stone Hill Road. The Department of Transportation was advised and a report was filed to have a new one installed.
