Pound Ridge Cops Charge Driver With Two Misdemeanors

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Pound Ridge police arrested and charged a local man with two misdemeanors last week, including driving under the influence of drugs.

Police said at approximately 6:45 p.m. Friday, they performed a routine traffic stop on Old Church Lane on a vehicle that had no license plate lamp. Officers said during the interview with the driver, they detected the odor of both marijuana and alcohol. The driver was given a field sobriety test, which police said he failed.

Police then arrested Francis Joseph, 54, of Pound Ridge and transported him to headquarters, where he was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs – first offense, both misdemeanors. He also was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway, both violations. Additionally, he was issued a summons for an equipment violation – no or inadequate license plate lamp.

Joseph was released on $300 bail and is due back in Pound Ridge court Nov. 26.

The following items also were reported by the Pound Ridge police:

On Thursday, police responded to a two-car accident on Salem Road at around 3:45 p.m. Police reported no injuries and no tow was needed.

Police received a report Thursday of a missing person on Barnegat Road, but the subject returned home and no further action was necessary.

Police were called to South Bedford Road at around noon Monday for a one-car accident. The driver was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital Center by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the car was towed.
