One person was killed in a chain reaction three-vehicle crash on I-95 in Greenwich, according to Connecticut State Police.

The crash took place around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday when a 2014 Honda with New York license plates traveling in the left lane changed to the center lane, striking a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze with Connecticut plates, which then slammed into a 2016 Ford Focus with Connecticut plates that was traveling in the same lane in front of them, state police said.

After the crash, the Honda began to rotate counter-clockwise. The backseat passenger of the Cruze sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The identity of the person killed is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit was called to the scene to assist with the investigation.
