Northern Westchester Man, Woman Face Drug Charges After Speeding Stop

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - A speeding stop on Route 9 in Cortlandt led to the arrests of two Westchester County residents who were in possession of hypodermic needles and a pipe containing cocaine residue, state police said.

On Wednesday, April 5, state police stopped a Jeep which was being driven by 20-year-old Buchanan resident Christopher O’Connor, for speeding. During the subsequent traffic stop, troopers determined that O’Connor was operating his vehicle while impaired by drugs and in possession of a hypodermic needle.

A State Police Drug Recognition Expert would later confirm that O’Connor was under the influence of drugs while operating his vehicle. He was arrested and charged with misdemeanor counts of operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs and possession of a hypodermic instrument.

According to police, the passenger, 19-year-old Sarah Pisanelli, was also in possession of hypodermic needles and a pipe containing burnt cocaine residue. She was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument, both misdemeanors.

Both O’Connor and Pisanelli were arrested and are due back in Town of Cortlandt Court on Friday, April 20.
