A 2013 Nissan Altima traveling north on the Hutch just past Mamaroneck Road in Scarsdale left the road and struck the tree at approximately 7:35 a.m., police said.

The driver was in cardiac arrest upon arrival of police and EMS personnel. CPR was performed at the scene and the driver was taken by ambulance to White Plains Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead.

It appears that the driver suffered a medical episode which caused the vehicle to go off the road, police said. Witnesses traveling behind his car say that traffic was traveling at only 40 to 45 miles per hour and his vehicle did not collide with or have to swerve to avoid any other car on the road at that time, according to police.

The man's name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
