To the editor:

Pound Ridge is indeed fortunate to have two well qualified candidates seeking to fill the Town Board seat being vacated by current Councilman and Deputy Supervisor Jon Powers. How is a voter to choose? Both are parents with young children in the Bedford Central School District and both are involved in the school; both are practicing attorneys with multiple graduate degrees; both have volunteered in many Community events; both have owned and operated a small business; both care about Pound Ridge’s future. One has leadership experience in the public forum, and therein lies the difference.

As a twice elected member of the Pound Ridge District Library Board of Trustees and its current chair, Dave Dow has led his Board through some tough decisions without consideration for political expediency. His devotion to doing what is right for his Town is manifest in his drive for excellence in everything he touches. Dave brings with him experience in the public budget process and the courage to stand and be counted when faced with unpopular options.

What does this say of the mettle of the man? He has stood firmly in the public arena and accepted the responsibility inherent in holding office.

Dave will bring to the Town Board his ability to parse out what is truly important, along with his energy to work towards accomplishing those objectives that will permit Pound Ridge to remain the wonderful place it is in which to live. These talents coupled with his scientific background should give voters confidence that he will help us adapt to the pressures from outside of the community imposed by those who simply do not understand the environmental challenges that shape our inclusive way of life.

Leadership that has met the test- that is the defining quality that will make Dave Dow an asset to the Town as a Councilman.

For me, the choice is easy: Dave Dow for the Pound Ridge Town Board. Richard M. Lyman Pound Ridge Town Supervisor
