To the editor:

I bet you are wondering why a local Pound Ridge mom like me would be voting for Brian Sheerin for the Bedford School board instead of his opponent Justine Morous who is also a Pound Ridge mom?

To begin, one reason is that  Brian has his children in our public school system and has made it his mission to help make the school community safe, inclusive, academically driven for every child at each of the schools.

His opponent Jusitne Marous, happens to be my neighbor and spent last year in France. She is a nice person and a caring mom. But that to me is not a strong enough reason to vote for her to represent me on the school board. It is my obvious assumption she has not been keeping up with what has been happening with the test scores, the budgets, the ongoing and ever changing needs.

In addition, upon her recent return from Europe, instead of placing her children back into our public school system where they had been prior to the trip, Justine enrolled her children in a private school. Other than the meet the candidates forum, I have not seen Justine attend any recent school board meetings or speak on any issues as Brian has done for the past several years.

Brian has been paying attention, attending school board meetings, tuning into areas needing improvements, and boldly voicing his opinions. He is smart, and he is a clear communicator. As a real estate broker,Brian knows what is going on in our area and how taxes and spending must stop and the quality of our education must go up instead.

Brian’s utmost concern is for his family and children to have the best possible public school education, the same desire I have for mine.

Brian has integrity, passion and persistence, and he truly cares for what is best for the children first and foremost while keeping a watchful eye on skyrocketing taxes and expenses. Brian has a tremendous amount of experience serving on several boards, and on those boards, has experience negotiating with unions. We need him!

I hope you will join me in voting for Brian Sheerin  on May 19 for the Bedford Central School District school board.
