To the editor:
I make it a rule to steer clear of politics. The truth is, it doesn’t interest me much and there’s not a lot of upside for me to get involved in any of it, especially as a local business owner.
So, this is a first. Pound Ridge has been wonderful to me, my family and my employees. I’m not one to play favorites and have done my best to support everyone and every cause that I could in my 40-plus years here.
So, I hope this letter is seen as an endorsement of a person and not of a politician. I am compelled to write it because of how I view our supervisor and what his friendship and leadership mean to me, the town and Scott's Corners.
Dick Lyman is viewed in the business district as a strong and knowledgeable leader who will help where he can, at a moment’s notice. I would imagine this is how the rest of Pound Ridge feels as well.
When I come to Dick for advice or help, he goes above and beyond each time. I can’t tell you how reassuring that is for someone like me, who has so much invested in this town on a daily basis. He makes things happen. He understands what our challenges are – and he stands at our side to help us overcome them.
Dick is one of the reasons any business owner would find the town appealing. It’s because I love Pound Ridge that I write to ask the people here to come out and support such a great leader and even better guy in his bid for re-election as supervisor.
If I could cast a vote in Pound Ridge, Dick Lyman would have mine every time.
