To the editor:

I’m crossing party lines to help elect David Dow to the Pound Ridge Town Board. David’s resume is impressive, as he is both a scientist and attorney. More importantly for Pound Ridge, he has worked tirelessly for this town in a number of volunteer capacities, most notably as both a trustee and president of the Pound Ridge Library. Under David’s guidance and leadership, our library has become a beehive of activity throughout the week. On any given weekend afternoon, there might be live music, an art show or storytelling. During the rest of the week, you may have the opportunity to take classes in European art, technology or memoir writing. The library has become not just a place to pick up a book, but also a place to play Scrabble, Legos or socialize (something Pound Ridge really needs more of).

Let’s review a few things that David will make his priority as a Town Board member:

1) Taxes – He is committed to keeping Pound Ridge affordable and property values high.

2) Business District Development – He recognizes the need for a comprehensive water treatment plan that ensures Scotts Corners’ long-term viability. He’s committed to finding cost-effective, practical solutions to this problem, which has existed for years including the possible use of modern decentralized water treatment systems being used around the state.

3) Federal Housing Settlement – He favors the development of fair housing, where there is a legitimate need and the adequate infrastructure to support it.

4) Preservation – He supports effective measures in preserving our town’s open space unique character and charm.

David, his wife Colette, and their two children are longtime Pound Ridge residents; the children attend the public schools and play on our local teams. Colette is a small business owner in Scotts Corners and a member of the Bedford Central School Board. They care deeply about the future of Pound Ridge and show it by working every volunteer event.

They are thoroughly committed to making Pound Ridge a better place to live. Please cast your vote for David Dow Nov. 3.
