To the editor:

Pound Ridge is a wonderful place to live. It is so because of the continued success in preserving the rural character of our town amidst a growing pressure for development, our ability to nurture volunteerism and keep town taxes low. These accomplishments are the direct result of decades of work by the many dedicated volunteers and employees who work tirelessly on our behalf.

These men and women invest their time because they believe in the great quality of life that Pound Ridge offers and they know that those values will deteriorate if qualified people are not actively involved. I urge all Pound Ridgers to get to know these people and support their efforts. Our future depends on them.

David Dow is one of those town volunteers and has demonstrated that he has the experience and qualifications to be on our Town Board.

David’s 16 years of local experience includes being elected twice to the Library Board where he currently serves as board president and his active involvement in youth, cultural and environmental programs that have promoted the values that make Pound Ridge the special place that it is.

He understands that the role of a town board member is to focus on those matters that are most important to current and future Pound Ridge residents; Fiscal responsibility, providing essential services, supporting and encouraging volunteerism, establishing and implementing effective environmental protection programs and pursuing those new town initiatives that will have the most benefit to all residents and businesses with an effective return on their investment.

Every election is critical, as the future direction of our town is in the hands of our five elected officials. David Dow has the credentials we need to join the Town Board.

Please vote for him on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Respectfully, Gary Warshauer, former Pound Ridge town supervisor
