Victor Jacoby, 85, Former Pound Ridge Fire Commissioner

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. - Victor Jacoby, a former fire commissioner in Pound Ridge, died Friday, May 8. He was 85.

Jacoby was born Jan. 24, 1930, in Jersey City, N.J., to Jack and Cecilia Jacoby of Harrison.

He served as chairman on the Pound Ridge Board of Assessment Appeals for many years.

He was also a member of the Pound Ridge Lions Club and the town’s Open Space Acquisitions Committee.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and then worked as a general contractor for over 30 years.

He started playing tennis while in the military, and served as treasurer of the Pound Ridge Tennis Club. He played until a few years ago, and was an active member of the Chestnut Ridge Tennis Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Aarts of Pound Ridge and Susan (Kevin) Marks of Darien, Conn.; one son, Jack Jacoby of Groton, Conn.; and four grandchildren.

His wife, Margaret “Miggs” Jacoby; and one son-in-law, Jeffrey Aarts, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be private.

Interment will be in the Pound Ridge Cemetery, next to the graves of his late wife and son-in-law.

Lawrence Funeral Home in Darien, Conn. is handling the arrangements.
