Filizzola was born May 20 1956, in Mount Vernon. She worked as an elementary school teacher for the Mount Vernon School District. She was educated at the Ursaline School in New Rochelle. She received her graduate and undergraduate degrees from the college of New Rochelle. She lived in Pound Ridge for the last 17 years.
Filizzola is survived by her husband, Frank; brother, John; and nephew and niece.
Calling hours are Tuesday, Dec. 3 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Cassidy-Flynn Funeral Home Inc. in Mt. Kisco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial to follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
