Louise Winn Seifert, 97, Former Longtime Pound Ridge Resident

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Louise Winn Seifert, a 52-year resident of Pound Ridge, died Saturday, June 1. She was 97.

Seifert was born Jan. 4, 1916, in Skipwith, Va. and raised in nearby Clarksville. She graduated from Randolph Macon Women’s College in Virginia and Columbia Library School in New York City. Before attending Library School, she taught English in Boydton High School, Virginia for two years. After graduating from Library School, she worked for the New York Public Library for several years.

Seifert moved to Pound Ridge in 1951 after marriage, where she resided for over 50 years. She was active in church and community affairs. She resumed her career as a children’s librarian with the Ferguson Library in Stamford, Conn. After her retirement, she did volunteer work at the Northern Westchester Hospital Center as well as with other community and church organizations. Shortly following her husband’s death, she moved from Pound Ridge to Virginia, where she resided until her death.

Seifert is survived by sons, Randolph Winn Seifert of Huntington, N.Y. and Bruce Mason Seifert of Chesapeake, Va.; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was predeceaed by her husband, Randolph J. “Randy” Seifert.

Calling hours are Thursday, June 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home in Katonah, N.Y. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 7 at the Pound Ridge Community Church.
