Chapa, (also known as Tenesaca) who was born Oct. 30, 1998, in Girno, Ecuador, died Friday, June 9, in a drowning accident.
A graduate of Ossining High School, Chapa worked at several local restaurants, and was so well liked that counselors from local middle and high schools attended his wake and funeral on Wednesday to offer comfort to those in need, said George Camp, of Dorsey Funeral Home.
Chapa was among a group of six teenagers who were swimming in the Croton River around 4 p.m. Friday, when he went underwater and never resurfaced.
He is survived by his father Luis Antonio Chapa and his mother Carmen Chapa.
