Eugene Kahn Of South Salem, Father Of Pound Ridge Resident

SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. -- Eugene Kahn died on Friday, Jan. 23, at his home in South Salem, from complications of Parkinson's disease. He was 83.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., Kahn was a high school math teacher for the Bellmore-Merrick School District on Long Island for most of his career. He was married for 40 years to Ruth Kahn, who died 15 years ago.

Kahn is survived by his children, Leslie (Lawrence) Gottlieb of Pound Ridge, and Dr. Mitchell Kahn of New Fairfield, Conn. He is also survived by his sister Irene Greenberg of West Haven, Conn., and his grandchildren Dylan Gottlieb, Zachary Gottlieb, Renna Gottlieb, Emily Kahn and Kristopher Kahn.

The funeral was held at Jewish Family Congregation in South Salem, N.Y. on Sunday. Burial was at The Pound Ridge Cemetery.

Donations in his memory can be made to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Jewish National Fund or Jewish Family Congregation of South Salem.
