Courtney O’Connell, Former HS Cheerleader In Westchester, Dies At 20

Courtney Elizabeth O’Connell, a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, died on Sunday, Jan. 28. She was 20 years old.

She was a student at New Rochelle High School where she was an exceptional member of the cheerleading team.

She also loved basketball and could often be seen wearing her “12″ jersey with a ball in her hand. Later, she attended Westchester Community College and was seeking a career in nursing.

Courtney was born on April 11, 1997 in New Rochelle to Jeremiah Brennan and Kim O’Connell. 

She is survived by her mother Kim, her sister Ashley Brennan, her grandmother Elizabeth O’Connell, her aunts and uncles Una and Robert Hopkins, Olivia Aguirre and Johnny O’Connell and her cousins, R. Connor Hopkins, Caitlyn Hopkins, Molina O’Connell, Alisha O’Connell and Xyerra O’Connell.

She is predeceased by her father Jeremiah Brennan and her grandfather Johnny O’Connell.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan. 31 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. A funeral mass is scheduled on Thursday, Feb. 1 at Holy Family Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
