What to do in Lewisboro-Pound Ridge Area This Weekend

This weekend offers busy days at the local nurseries; the Wolf Conservation offers a chance to sleep under the stars with the wolves; and there are plenty of of live music events in the area.

Friday, June 22

Music for Kids: 11 a.m. Fun with Music, featuring Laura D’Amico at Pound Ridge Library. This music program is for children ages five and under. Registration is required. Call the library at 914-764-5085. 271 Westchester Ave., Pound Ridge.

Open Mic: 8 p.m. Mariela’s Wine & Espresso Bar Present Open Mic Night. Open mic night is hosted by singer/songwriter Gordon Thurber. All are welcome to sign up and perform. Admission is free. Mariela’s is at 71 Westchester Ave. in Pound Ridge. Call 914-764-3424 for more information.

Sleeping With Wolves: 7 p.m. - 9 a.m. The Wolf Conservation Center's new nocturnal adventure experience provides a chance to camp out overnight with the 25 wolves that call the WCC home. With all the howls, circling vultures, and nature's nighttime chatter, you'll feel like you're camping under the stars with wild wolves.  $275 per four-person tent; singles: $150. Colvin in Concert: 8 p.m. The Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Shawn Colvin comes to the Ridgefield Playhouse. Farm Market: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Gossett Brothers Farm Market. The Gossett Brothers Farm Market offers fresh produce, meats and cheese, as well as seafood. The market is at 1202 Route 35 at Gossett Brothers Nursery in South Salem.

Summer Reading: 10:30 a.m. Pound Ridge Library’s Summer Reading Game Kickoff will begin with a special event to register kids for its summer programs and reading game. The event will feature entertainment from Reading Rocks with Squeaky Clean – a family-music program that focuses on all types of reading. The event is co-sponsored by the Pound Ridge Rec Department. Day at the Nursery: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pound Ridge Garden Club’s Day at the Nursery held at Pound Ridge Nurseries and includes a bake sale with the club’s expert and master gardeners on hand to help attendees select plants. Pound Ridge Nurseries will donate a portion of the day’s sales to the Garden Club to help it fund beautification projects around town. 6 Pound Ridge Road, Pound Ridge

Learn About Wolves: 11 a.m. Wolf Conservation Center Presents ‘Wolves of North America.’ Learn about the mythology, biology and ecology of wolf families and discover why June is a special time for packs in North America. Guests will visit ambassador wolves Alawa,and Zephyr as well as the WCC’s critically endangered red wolves and Mexican gray wolves. Cost is $13 for adults and $11 for children under 12. Live Music: 6:30-9:30 p.m. Dennis Collins and Mike DiMeo will perform at the North Star restaurant in Pound Ridge. Wildlife and Art: 9 a.m - 5 p.m. A Celebration of Wildlife and Art will be held at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. Two exhibits featuring watercolor images, sculpture and photographs are on view at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River“Watershed Wildlife Watercolors,” featuring the work of wildlife artist Paul Thiesing will run through Sept. 3 and “A Touch of Nature,” an exhibit of outdoor photography by Bill Wiegelman, will run July 15.
