The 2015 budget includes a spending increase of 16.36 percent, to a total of $791,117. The tax levy, which is the amount of revenue that comes from property taxes, will increase by 17.82 percent, to a total of $759,487.
The tax levy is subject to a state-required tax cap, which is the lesser of 2 percent or the inflation rate. However, the Library Board of Trustees overrode the tax cap and unanimously approved the budget prior to the vote, according to David Dow, who serves as president of the board.
The tax rate is slated to rise by 30 cents per $1,000 of assessed value, translating to an average increase of $49 per household.
The budget includes funding for added services, such as increased operating hours and the addition of a new assistant. Consolidation of collections and re-purposing of space are also priorities along with a possible expansion.
Also on the ballot were four seats on the Library Board of Trustees. Provided results show the winners were Lena Nurenberg, Richard De Palma, Stacey Cleveland and Melanie Urick Baschkin. https://poundridge.dailyvoice.com/news/pound-ridge-library-board-cleveland-nurenberg-baschkin-de-palma-win
