POUND RIDGE, N.Y. The alleged burglar of a Pound Ridge liquor store was caught on the surveillance camera of a nearby business, which is what helped investigators identify him and eventually lead to his arrest, state police said.
Last week, state police arrested Zachary Levine, 21, of Pound Ridge and charged him with burglary in the third-degree. A charge of criminal mischief in the second-degree was recently added. Both are felonies.
State Police Investigator James Stirpee said that Levine broke into Pound Ridge Wines & Spirits in Scotts Corners sometime on the early morning of March 6. He was arrested three days later.
We observed him on surveillance video at the time (of the break-in) from a neighboring business, Stirpee said.
Stirpee said that Levines apparent target was wine and liquor.
He was trying to take all the alcohol he could get, Stirpee said. He got one case and he dropped another. We did locate the case he took.
Levine was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court later this month.
