Traffic Stop Results in Vehicle Being Impounded

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – Police impounded a car after a traffic stop on Salem Road on Saturday, Dec. 17, that also netted the driver three tickets.

The driver was pulled over after police clocked him going 68 mph in a 40 mph zone. Beside the speeding ticket, he was also issued citations for a license restriction violation and the operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

In other police blotter news:

DEC. 14

Police received a report of a raccoon acting rabid on South Bedford Road. Officers discovered that the raccoon was injured and it was dispatched.

DEC. 16

Police responded to the report of a wire down in the roadway on Upper Shad Road. Officers discovered it to be a cable TV wire and removed it from the road.

Police received another call for wires down in the roadway on West Lane. Wire were down and burning. The road was closed and NYSEG arrived. The problem was corrected and the road was reopened a short time later.

DEC. 17

Police were called to Westchester Avenue for a one-car accident. The car was towed from the scene and the driver was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital Center by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Police issued a speeding ticket to a motorist on Westchester Avenue for travelling 57 mph in a 30 mph zone. Another motorist was later cited on Salem Road for going 57 mph in a 40 mph zone.

DEC. 19

A resident on Westchester Avenue told police their credit card was used fraudulently. The credit agency was notified and corrected the situation; fraud alerts were placed.

Police were called to Westchester Avenue on a harassment complaint and mediated a dispute between neighbors. No further problems were reported.
