POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- Pound Ridge Town Board members will hold a public forum later this month to explore whether to adopt a new commercial zoning approach for Scotts Corners.
The approach, which is called "form-based" zoning, is meant to take a more holistic approach than conventional zoning.
Councilman Dan Paschkes described the form-based approach as creating "a template for future development.”
Paschkes said that it includes what a community's vision is for how a downtown to look and function. In practice, according to Paschkes, this would changing the zoning so make sure that buildings interact better with sidewalks and streets, and for better flow and interaction from pedestrians.
In contrast, Paschkes said, conventional zoning governs things like uses and setbacks but it otherwise has broad parameters.
The public forum is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, at 10 a.m. and will be held in the town house.
