Tendy Calls For Three Debates Before Putnam DA Republican Primary

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Putnam Valley Supervisor Robert Tendy, candidate for Putnam County district attorney, is calling for three debates to be held prior to the Sept. 10 primary.

"This election should be about which candidate has the best background and experience, not the most money,” said Tendy.

“The people of Putnam County have a right to hear the candidates debate face to face the numerous important issues facing county law enforcement. Right now what we have is one candidate doing his best to buy the election by flooding the media with dubious ads touting dubious statistics and so-called accomplishments and false ‘initiatives.’" said Tendy. "The citizens are being misled, and I challenge Adam Levy to three pre-primary debates on issues such as ethics, the fair and speedy administration of justice, discovery reform, the training and hiring of staff, and budgetary matters."

Levy is the incumbent.

Tendy further called on the various media outlets to help their followers by routinely reporting on the various issues and the candidates’ experience and platforms.

“I realize it is the summer, and this is traditionally a slow news time, but this election in one of the most important in Putnam County’s history, and the media should not let it be framed and purchased by the money of one wealthy individual," he said.

"I believe it is our media more than anything else that informs the voting public, and their role in any election process is invaluable," Tendy added. “I will be sending my request for the debates directly to Adam Levy’s campaign. I hope they respond quickly and affirmatively."
