The proposal that is on the table would see a Vib Hotel – Best Western’s boutique brand –erected downtown, with an emphasis on “technology integration and stylish designs.”

If approved, the eight-story, 80-room hotel would be constructed on Church Street, just south of the Division Street municipal garage, near Main Street. It would feature environmentally friendly designs consistent with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification.

According to New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson, in an effort to facilitate the project, the City Council will spend this month considering two actions, whether to “apply the city zoning code’s downtown density bonus to the proposed hotel site and selling a small nearby city-owned parcel of land that the hotel proposes to utilize for valet parking.”

“The comprehensive zoning changes planned through our master development agreement – and scheduled to be presented to the City Council by the end of the year – are intended to facilitate investment of this kind on a much broader scale,” he added. “Hotels are very positive contributors to the health of our downtown economy, so this is all good news.”
